InteractiveCo-Culture Plate(ICCP)
This is NEW Co-Culture Vessel Technology
The old style attempt at culturing cells used a vessel with the insert submerged in the culture well.
This old style technology was developed over 30 years and did not work ideally:
- Researchers cannot observe with a microscope both cell lines (the cells growing on the insert are obscured by the cells growing on the culture well)
- The cells can not be cultured the same material surface for both the insert and the culture well.
We have invented the ideal co-culture vessel technology to solve these problems!
The Interactive Co-Culture Plate (ICCP) is connected side-by-side: sharing the growth media, sharing secretion factors and both cultures are clearly visible with a microscope.

ICCP + C-Body(Connector for Horizontal Co-culture plate) can be used to create various interaction experimental models.

Important Features (of the Interactive Co-Culture Plate):
① Researchers can easily observe cells growing in BOTH the chambers A and B at the same time.(ICCP)

② Connecting with C-Body, cells on A+C+(C)+ B wells (Co-culture using 3 or 4 wells) can be observed simultaneously

③ The pore size of the ICCP Filter can be selected from three types depending on the purpose.
The ICCP Filter 0.6 (pore size 0.6um) is a filter that does not allow cells to migrate, the ICCP Filter 0.03 (pore size 0.03um) is a filter that does not allow exosomes to migrate, and the ICCP Filter 1.2 (pore size 1.2um) is a filter that allows proteins to pass through much higher.
④ Proteins and other substances in the cell supernatant diffuse naturally, enabling observation of natural cell-cell interactions
⑤ The density of exosomes transferred is twice as high as that of the conventional upper/lower type co-culture method.
The upper/lower type has 0.5ml insert volume + 1.5ml lower vessel volume, while ICCP has 1.5ml - 2.0ml for both left and right. In addition, it does not clog the filter pores with cells as the cells become confluent.

⑥ Excellent Mechanism that prevents cells from blocking the pores during cell culturing => Efficient diffusion during culturing.

In the conventional vertical co-culture method, cells clog the pores of the membrane filter and are not effectively co-cultured, but horizontal connected co-culture vessel ICCP does not clog the pores until the end even if the confluency becomes high.
⑦ Unlike conventional cell culture inserts, the surface material for the cell culture is made of the same material (PS).
⑧ One set is the same size as a glass slide, and four sets can be mounted using the ICCP adapter.
ICCPadapter Cat.No. 2596-02
⑨ Immunostaining is possible in each well. (Cat. No. 2527-01 ICCP cover glass, diameter 10 mm)
⑩ Cells cultured in different environments can be connected to each other in two ways: method A and method B.
⑪ When using the C-Body for multiple co-culture, changes due to different co-culture effects can be observed simultaneously.
Oncology Example:
Analyze the interaction of secretion factors between cancer tumor cells and normal cells or iPS (induced pluripotent stem cells)
Which drugs or transcripts added to the media STOP the normal cells from metastasizing?
Critical Use Applications:
- Regenerative Medicine: grow regenerative cells along in the presence of normal cells.
- Exosome Interactions: share transcripts between cell lines without cross contaminating.
- Oncology Research: grow tumor cells & normal cells sharing secretion factors and transcripts.
- Immune System Staining: clearly visualize interacting cells with immune staining probes.
Easy Docking:

ICCP Filter
| Pore Size 0.6um |
*This is a filter for ICCP made by it4ip. It is made of polycarbonate and has a pore size of 0.6um. It is a track-etched membrane with relatively low absorption of proteins. Although the pore size does not allow general cultured cells to pass through, please make a decision on its use according to your intended experimental system. (Sterilized by gamma ray) |
| Pore Size 0.03um |
*This is a filter for ICCP made by it4ip. It is made of polycarbonate and has a pore size of 0.03um. It is a track-etched membrane with relatively low absorption of proteins. The pore size does not allow general exosomes to pass through, but it does allow glucose and lactic acid to pass through, so please make a decision on its use according to the intended experimental system. (Sterilized by gamma ray) |
| Pore Size 1.2um |
*This is a filter for NICO-1 made by It4ip. It is made of polycarbonate and has a pore size of 1.2um. It is a track-etched membrane with relatively low protein absorption. The pore size of 1.2um is larger than that of 0.6um (model number 2525-06), so it is superior in passing proteins and exosomes. The pore size of 1.2um is larger than that of 0.6um (Model 2525-06).
